I service the whole Bay Area! From Watsonville to San Rafael, Novato, and more. East bay also, Benecia to Livermore, Fremont, Hayward, Milpitas, Gilroy, etc.
Sharpening is done on the spot at your location allowing you to check your shears for sharpness before I ever leave your facility.
Sharpening is done on the only flat hone style machine (made by Kuda, see pic below) that will follow the true Hamaguri edge of your shears, hand honed on diamond and/or ceramic stones and polished to a fine finish with fine high quality honing pads using a special diamond polishing solution.
Serrations can be applied if needed or wanted for $5 extra. Angles can be changed to accommodate your cutting style, such as slide cutting, point cutting, dry cutting, etc.
Pricing: $30 per shear or thinner, if extra repair is needed there could be an additional $5 - $10 charge, any parts needed are extra: washers $2, bumpers $2 -$5, finger rests $5
re-serating available for $5/pair
See the following Steps of how we Sharpen your Shears Professionally
Scissors & Shears/Thinners
-
Over all condition of shears are inspected and cleaned then checked under magnification to identify any damage. Most of the shears I receive have imperfections such as blade nicks. Most of the nicks are removed with honing stones or sharpening.
-
Blades are disassembled for the sharpening process. I check the center screw, thumb rest and bumpers.
-
Cutting angle is checked to ensure minimal amount of metal is removed during sharpening process.
-
Blades are sharpened on equipment that is best suited for your particular shear and cutting needs. Diamond, Rubber, Carbides and Leather are used to sharpen and polish the edge to razor sharpness. Tips are rounded and deburred to ensure safety (if requested).
-
Reassemble blades, pivot points are oiled, tension is adjusted and shear is balanced.
-
Test for sharpness with hair. Sharpening must pass cutting tests before returning to you, the customer.
Note: If parts need replacement, there will be additional charges that you will be notified of prior to work being completed for your approval.
Quality service is my goal and I never settle for second best. I strive to be the BEST!
